Indeed, and anyway with my computer being dead, I think soccer mode development is going to stall for some time :/
There isn't that much left to do: counting and displaying scores, finding and implementing a way to see which team your kart belongs to (I wanted to use shaders to change the karts' colors), maybe change the ball size, some UI tweaking...for a first, deliverable version.
Any help would be welcome. BTW, if anyone feels like improving the soccer arena (samuncle?), that would be great :)

An Icon?

Based on a soccer.svg file fond on openclipart (public domain) and the normal mode file.

Xcf included.

As all my icons, it's surely not the best one but could be a good starting point for someone "who really knows" how to make it. (I just discoverd how to make a color change gradually with gimp :shock:)

That's good this is proper, i like this idea maybe i will try to make my own version :)

I really like this icon, but I'm not sure about the motion blur on the ball. Motion blur is something that somehow feels out of place on vector art

About your version: I think you could do something about the shadow, it's IMHO a bit crazy that the shadow is vertically under the ball when the sun is so down in the sky...

I'm not sure, it looks like vertor art but in fact it is not :p

Not really , the ball is really near the ground ;)


The icon could be tavari's one or mine it doesn't matter at all. I think they both look good :) tavariz is able to make good ones. This is just two different point of view.

Ok, i think i will look at this after finishing a new plunger icon (i think the current one doesn't look the best)

Hi,
I tested the soccer mode and this is what should change:

The ball is too "heavy", we should give it the physics of the big boxes in the tutorial ! This can make the game mode more interesting :).
I will upload a sound for hitting the ball like in real soccer

Edit: Here is the sound (shoot.ogg) i made from a real soccer ball :) (Cc-by license as usual) when the kart hit/ is in contact with soccer ball.
Edit2: I forgot to upload the sound i called "hitground" that is the sound of the ball that hit the ground or a wall when bouncing. I guess this is possible to use this sound while there is already this kind of sound ("jump") for karts.

Hi,

thanks for the sounds, it will however require some development before we can use them since we currently have no option to play a special sound on collisions

I wanted to help, giving a ballon, if needed :

Thanks for these sounds. They may not be used immediately though, since integrating these sounds in-game requires some programming and we're busy preparing the next release
