Suggestions and Modifications

Postby Totoplus62 » 01 Dec 2012, 17:20

I create this topic for people who don’t want to create one when they have an idea. So ideas can be more “centralized” (And maybe the forum could be more organized :p).
When an idea is great, people could create a topic for it (to work on this idea).

So when you have an idea; just write : IDEA before your message (So we diectely see where are the Ideas)
I hope it will be usefull ;)

IDEA

I have some things to suggest (you do not let me the time to post my answer ! ):

-I find that the ability to throw a cake behind (on the back) is cheat: this is not balanced. People should let this ability to throw on the back only for bowling ball.

-A sound for bowling ball touching someone could be nice --> so I find one and modify it (“Yeah I made a Strike ;) !”)

-Another idea is to let appear random tricks and advices during the loading… :D
I illustrate:

Music:
I know there is lot’s of talented people who can make music for the game but I have the name of an artist that is truly amazing: Mindthings. I let you discover lot’s of amazing (free) songs. Just a bit here:

I agree that we need a topic like this. Just I never really went ahead and made it.

+1

And add smoke effects in the silencer of the karts while they're running.

IDEA: Have kart "Pass" animations for when a kart is passed by another.

They just need an animator for that.

No, often kart animations are made by the creator of the kart. It would need to be programmed in and animations could slowly be added.

Totoplus62 {l Wrote}:I create this topic for people who don’t want to create one when they have an idea. So ideas can be more “centralized” (And maybe the forum could be more organized :p).

I actually find this unorganized, and makes it quite easy to miss important points. Finding an idea in a huge thread is a lot more work then finding the thread (unless you know some keywords of the post you are searching for). Also, comments to a specific suggestions might be pages down in the list of all unsorted answers, instead of having everything together.

Basically all weapons work backwards, so not having this for cake would be inconsistent. Any ideas on making it less powerful would be welcome (perhaps the cake just rolls backwards? Feels strange, too).

-A sound for bowling ball touching someone could be nice --> so I find one and modify it (“Yeah I made a Strike ;) !”)

That might actually be a bug - we do have a strike sfx, but it's not being played anymore.

-Another idea is to let appear random tricks and advices during the loading… :D

Except that usually the loading time is too short to read a message (and there's nothing more frustrating than not being able to finish reading a hint ;) ).

Missing strike effect is fixed (r12134), thanks for bringing this to my attention ;)

I think our effect is better than the one you have (though opinions welcome of course).

I agree about the effect ;)

I still think that throwing a cake behind has to be change. Maybe someone will find an idea for that :)

More attraction to the ground. You'll find that if you throw anything backwards it's not so precise... so it would be used in even closer range when thrown backwards.

To hiker: The cake could also be a mine backwards ... That's funny and balanced :D

Moreover the cake has currently the shape of a mine :p

No because bubble gum slow you down a bit and (very) easily detectable (= A banana in MK). A mine kie a cake is small and make you explode so you lose lot's of time (A fake gift in mario kart) :p

one does not preclude the other...

Well, it's amusing when I'm first to fire some cakes on my opponents.
There however are some completely unrelated unbalanced issues: for example, I'm the first, someone sends me a pink ball, I get last.
Maybe we should be less affected by pink balls if the second guy is right after us?

What if the bouncy bail had a blast radius big enough to hit anyone immediately behind/overtaking you
