[Official] SuperTuxKart Networking - Looking for Testers

Nearly one year after the 0.9.3 release we are getting ready for the next release. And as many might know, we have actually been very busy working on the network implementation to allow online races. As expected, this has taken a lot of time, but we have finally reached a stage that we need more testing. For now we call this an alpha test, since there are still some known bugs and some polishing is required as well, but nothing that should affect the actual network race at this stage. De facto, we have been doing alpha tests with visitors on our IRC channel for some weeks now, so we actually do not expect any major bugs anymore.

We are looking for people who can compile SuperTuxKart following our instructions themselves. You don't need to be able to program in C++ or anything. The main reason for asking you to compile yourself is that if a bug should occur, we can work with you to help us finding the bug. We are at the same time busy on working on a beta release (or even release candidate??), for which we will obviously provide binaries/installers for all common platforms. We actually don't expect this to be too far away ... fingers crossed.

While this is happening, we will work on the important outstanding issues, and prepare a beta release which will of course include pre-compiled binaries and installer.

Where to response here? I am testing on debian Buster. No Problems, no crashes, no delays using weapons, no issues so far.

Great!

Thank you for giving your work to others.

I find it pretty stable on Fedora 29 and mageia 6 as well

It looks quite stable and without crash in a few test plays. However, I feel that sometimes there are some latency when drifting and steering, especially when changing the left/right direction rapidly.

Hello STK-friends, ;-)

I'm a fan of STK and have tested the STK-Networking in the windows-version.
Result: It is genial (thanks for this and thanks at all STK-friends, there have play with me online)!
But I have not tested with real windows, rather with 'wine'.
And all this on current Manjaro.
But I can not compile the linux-version in Manjaro and also not with my old linux mint 17.3.
Therefore a little question: Can youre compilate a linux version for all architectures, how on the download site for STK 0.9.3 (Full game (.tar.xz). Includes 32-bit and 64-bit binaries. Extract and run run_game.sh, which will automatically detect your architecture.)?

Greeting and sorry please for my little english - I'm a old german man (but not in my heart!) ;-)

Could you please open a new thread for this and share the error message you get?

"[Official] SuperTuxKart Networking - Looking for Testers"
For a second I thought I'd typed Official instead of unoffical (note the wrong spelling :/) on my nightly builds :P

Just hosted a LAN game on Fedora29, client was Mageia6.1

Not sure if bug or new behaviour for plunger- plunger slowly slid up screen
Might want to change ESC key behaviour when in LAN/WAN game, say "Cannot pause, press shoot+pause to forfeit"

When WAN servers have
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
<server-configurable value="true" />

It might be nice if there were a way to see that in the server list
