this is not planned at this time, since no one on the main development team owns a VR headset AFAIK

Adding VR would require adding a first person camera as well and these may not work so well in a karting game. Not to mention VR in such fast paced game possibly would lead to vomiting and other unpleasant stuff.

Seriously, not every game has to have VR.
