Today I installed STK on my HP Probook 4530s. It crashes when I start any level with the message below.

Laptop specs:

AMD Radeon HD 7400M, 1GB GDDR

Hi, thanks for the bug report, I have opened a corresponding issue on github : https://github.com/supertuxkart/stk-code/issues/3072

Try going into Options (the wrench on the main screen), then "Custom settings...", then set "Animated Scenery" to "Disabled". This will disable all particles, ans thus hopefully avoid the crash.

@QwertyChouskie

I disabled Animated Scenery and now the game works perfectly!

Thanks!

@zeger

I wonder if you are running final 0.9.3 version or maybe 0.9.3-rc1? Because I see bug reports from 6 people on android for release candidate and I don't see this crash in final version anymore. And there was at least one related commit between these versions:
https://github.com/supertuxkart/stk-cod ... ba7c160569
Maybe anim_gfx had undefined state when changing from bool to int, I never really looked if this may happen.

Or maybe is this related to some particular add-on karts?

Thanks for your reply!

I installed the game on a laptop my brother gave me a week ago. After I installed the game, I figured out Windows 10 was just installed again and had to run a lot of updates. This didn't solve the problem, but to be sure, I installed Supertux-kart again too. This didn' t fix the problem, but I can tell you which file I installed:

supertuxkart-0.9.3-win64.exe from supertuxkart.net

What does "Maybe anim_gfx had undefined state when changing from bool to int" mean?

I didn't install any add-ons.

Thank you all for helping me!

Can you reproduce this issue all the time? Is it related to one particular car (i.e. can you reproduce it with just one kart, no AI)?

I didn't play STK this week. But when I tested Supertuxkart a week ago, it happened all the time when starting a level. I used a few different karts.

When I turned off animated scenery, it didn't crash, when I turned animated scenery low, the level started very "choppy" and crashed after a few seconds.

I will test some more karts or levels this week, or try to race with one kart at a time to find out wether one particular kart is causing the problem. But honestly I don't think so. I didn't make any changes in the game.
