Hi,

I would like to play the star track, but it was in older version of STK and not in the latest version.
How to play the star track in the latest version of STK?

Thanks

Unfortunatly due to many changes the old format of maps isn't compatible with the new stk engine.

While you could probably "convert" them by changing manually the XML it's not recommended for a few reason but mainly because the appearance won't be optimal. The best thing to do is:

1) To find the blend of the old track
2) to update it to use the full power of the new engine (like volumetric, fog, depth of field, lights, etc).
3) To update textures to use new high resolution one
4) export it and enjoy :)

If you want help in the process of converting tracks I can help you (as the lead artist of stk).

You don't have to do a cocoa temple bis. You can "easily" convert them and take advantage of the new engine. Several example have been done like northern resort, the sand track, xr 591

by the "optimal" part. does it mean when the track is converted it will:
1. have the appearance of old versions of stk
or
2.if i convert the track the graphics will be glitchy and messed up.

hopefully it is the 1st one so i can enjoy all the old tracks
BTW how do i convert the track by modifying the XML file. i looked around in track.xml and i dont know which one to edit

Mainly the lighting is likely to be wrong, so for example it could be a lot darker than it should be. Actually spending a little bit of time exporting it with the newest exporter, and optionally tweaking some aspects is the best approach.

As in unable to run blender, or don't know how? If the latter is the case, you can easily pick up on it. Watch some videos about how to use blender and ask samuncle if you have any questions. ;) Once you get the basics down, it's rather simple.

I'm afraid but you have to use Blender with the latest supertuxkart-scripts. There is no other way. I think there is an article on the wiki "Set up the tools" or something like that...
