Hello, i am alberto and my question is about the textures in supertuxkart, I have two pc and I have tried In other pc, two of them show the textures well but my desktop pc with arch, the same operative system as others, show the textures darker than the others, it isn't a problem of the monitor because I have tried the windows version in windows and wine and the textures are shown normal like in the others, my question is why the textures are shown dark in my Intel linux desktop but not in wine or windows in the same version, could someone help me for fix the problem? It wouldn't be a big problem if it wasn't impossible to see in some places of the game like the cavern that is fully dark

Can you play around with the Shadow & Per Texture Lighting option

anything make me see the cavern, all i have done for anything, i have tried the windows version in wine and windows and the game functions well, why not in linux natively? I don't want to use wine or windows... can be a bug of mesa? i have tried with a version lesser, the 10.5 in ubuntu and the last supertuxkart functions too, arch has the mesa 10.6 can be this thing the cause? I am very dissapointed with the situation.. in wine and windows functions, it's very weird.

You can try to check graphical_restrictions.xml file. You can find it in data directory. There is for example:

Maybe this restriction is still needed for mesa 10.6.

On windows it can work differently, because the drivers support OpenGL 4 and more extensions are available. I'm not sure if shadows work on windows or not. But still wine uses the same mesa driver...

I'm not sure if I understend it correctly, but you said that it works for you with mesa 10.5 and doesn't work with mesa 10.6? If so, there is most probably something wrong in mesa. Or in our restriction file Try to change this line:

I said that the game functions normal for me with Ubuntu, but I am not sure if it is caused by the mesa version which is 10.6, and it is the weird thing for me, the function on wine but not in Linux natively, I will try what you said now and I am telling you if it is the problem, thanks for the help

nothing, this restriction not function , i have been trying with the restirctions of the game in windows and to change the restriction for linux and other mesa versions, anything functions, the pictures continues showing dark while in windows functions normally, I have tried remove the restriction of intel in windows for wine and functions well too, I don't understand anything

You mentioned that you run it on different PCs. Have they all intel hd 4600, or you run it with different graphics cards?

GeometrySharer may still need to be disabled anyway, because I see some shader compilation errors in your logs. I will compile current mesa to check it.

If I put the restriction that you said, isn't geometryshader disabled? My problem is specific in arch, because in windows and wine the game functions and in live cd of ubuntu 15:04 with ppa of skt and repository trust y thar for dependencies of the package functions too, the only difference is the version of mesa.. Ubuntu has the 10.5 and arch 10.6, sorry for the question and the problem and thanks for the help. The game can't be played with some circuit for the dark shadows, other are dark but are playable

I checked mesa 10.3.2, 10.5.2 and current 11.0 git version and in every case it works fine for me on ubuntu with intel hd 4000. Maybe it is something specific with haswell graphics cards. Hard to say what's wrong...

have you tried with mesa 10.6.4? it is the exact version of mesa in arch, sorry but.. will be some fix for my problem? do you think with an upgrade can be fixed? when will mesa 11.0 release aproximate?

If it works for you on the same computer, but with different linux distribution, then I assume that this is a bug in drivers. This can be even something wrong in distribution package. For example some patches, enabled experimental features etc... I don't think that you will easily find the reason.
