Super Tux Kart 0.9 for Debian 8

Forgive me for being such a noob.

I was able to install 0.9 on Open Suse 13.2 through Yaxt using the update feature. Tried Debian 8 today, but the only version of Super Tux Kart that I could find in Synaptics is 0.8. I must be missing something here. Do I need to add a new repository to get 0.9 or is there some other way?

STK 0.9 is not available in official Debian/Ubuntu repositories yet. Other way is to use our static package:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/supertu ... z/download
Just unpack it and use run_game.sh script.

You probably need to type ./run_game.sh from the terminal so Linux will recognise it as a command - cd to the directory first.

Don't worry about being a noob, that's how everybody starts out. ;)

Would an installer for linux package be helpfull?

This could be simple GTK-3 application which would unpack it to $HOME directory (or maybe /opt if you have root privileges) and add a shortcut to the applications menu. Some commercial games have something similar (for example Bastion IIRC).

That would be nice! :)
