It's when something bright is out of focus. The shape (in this case circles) is caused by the aperture's shape of the camera.

Nice video All of this is promising.
There is something i don't really like: Stk is a cartoon game and i think that we shouldn't make the "presidente" be a human: i mean a "real" human, even sara is looks cartoon. A "cousin" of nolok should be better, i can create it if you want (the picture).

For the president Paulo riviera I agree. I made the poster quickly. If you want to make a portrait of the president you are welcome.
However why do you want to put nolok's cousin ? Paulo Riviera isn't a bad or a good guy. He is simply the president of a fictional country. He is neutral and apolitical.

You didn't understand i was talking about the fact the man is a real man and comes from a real picture. To illustrate: there is no picture of Shigeru Miyamoto in Mario Kart

@Totoplus62. Nope I understood perfectly. (I said I agree in my post.) However I want to point out that Paulo riviera isn't nolok's cousin. I mean he is not a bad guy. You can try to make a portrait but use a neutral character not related to nolok.
That was my point.

@totoplus62 it's a very bad idea. It may sound like a good idea but it isn't for many reasons. The next gen engine is still work in progress. Many things will change and the vast majority of the track aren't ready to be shown. That is why I spent four days of work to show the best sections in the best case.
So yeah people can do what they want since our repository is public. However I strongly disagree with presenting a video of an unfinished product in our twitter.
It's basic marketing guys. If you want to help us find someone who has knowledge in blender and 3d art.
Also the synchronization is bad and it seems like the sound is also not synchronized.
Thanks for your understanding. Sam

When he says "I heard [...]" in video we clearly see that this is not a member of the dev team and I don't really see the problem while you already tweet that all of this was "work in progress". I always posted tweets related to Stk: the goal of twitter is just to be a place to create interaction with the community. The other posts from Arthur in the blog for example are more "official". But you are the graphic guy and i respect your work so i will delete it.
Edit: Alright you already deleted it

Are you sure? I know that Kdenlive tends to get audio desynchronization, but I really don't see and hear it in this case. I checked the source video and the youtube version and I really don't see/hear it.

@samuncle: can you send the .xcf file, the background of the poster ?
Just make a nice head on a transparent background and I will replace it

I dont think my laptop would be able to handle this, i played Goat Simulator and i had to go on the lowest quality and on the lowest resolution
So this is my question: When the new version is released, you can still be able to play with the normal graphycs?

Yeah, me too. I hope these improvementes won't affect badly the performance and the framerate or it'll be unplayable even on my new laptop...

Don't worry. You will still be able to use old graphics if needed.
You will also be able to use new graphics and turn off some effects, so you should be able to enjoy the main part of new graphics but without some additional effects.
And I will just add that the biggest work which is currently done on graphics is to improve performances.

I implemented a "non Advanced pipeline" for card that supports OpenGL 3+ but which are slow. Deferred renderers have an "entry cost" that can't be reduced because it needs to write a gbuffer, and usually bandwidth limited gpu (like igp) performance are badly hit. As we have 2 renderings pass, I was able to ditch the first one and use the second one as a classical forward renderer without changing all the shaders. There is a penalty because my shaders still read much more texture than previously (most of which just hold a single color) but it's usually 2 to 3 time faster than in "Advanced pipeline" mode.
