Funto {l Wrote}: On the fact that they are hard to read: that's a general problem with STK's font: the solution would be to have a contour on all letters, e.g if the letter is white inside, the outside should be black, and it would be readable whatever background it would be on. Red text is particularly hard to read in STK. But the font is ugly anyway :D

For Menu, GUI, and others: Hand Drawn Shapes is a lovely cartoon (free) font i often use. It could perfectly fit with STK imho :).

Totoplus62: nice font indeed, I imagine something like that for STK too. And it should be dynamic, something blinking, or moving...not sure what.
The problem is that we need the font to handle Chineese, Arabic, etc characters, as well as all possible accents (ç, é, etc...) Maybe we can mix fonts for that?

Hi,

I've created a separate topic for this.

Not sure about blinking ;) But yes, something to make the menu more ... 'playful' would be neat indeed. Though then again, that means more GUI work :(

Cheers,
Joerg

Yeah, "blinking" sounds scary, but it's actually what is done with Crash Bandicoot and it works well...it should be subtle though ^^.

We should have a "basic monospace" font for debug message (only basic character) to display FPS, position of the kart, etc

Switching fonts is a bit scary I must say, over the years we have accumulated characters from lots of languages. A switch would require to make all those characters in the new style (different alphabets like russian or chinese can continue using a different font of course. But all accentuated latin characters must be done)
