STK has come on leaps and bounds. Well done guys, this is an awesome project. I threw the PPA for the latest stable into my Trisquel system, and I like what you've done with the challenges by making it a "story mode". Two ideas came out of talking to the STK on twitter:

1. It needs some form of reward for getting all the gold trophies. I specifically worked to get this. (Don't laugh. I'm a bit crap at driving games.)
2. Some form of video gallery to re-watch the videos you've unlocked would be cool.

Also, my girlfriend who works in Maya is threatening to learn Blender so she can make me a kart.

That's our current idea (we even have a ticket for that), but ideally (if we only had time/artists) some video sequence might be nice, though I admit I don't have any idea what that could be (considering that the story is potentially over earlier). What about a bridge rises out of the water in overworld. When you drive there, you reach a golden key, which unlocks the highest level? Potentially with a challenge in between, racing against the high level AI (*grin* in an all-track GP ). Though that would certainly need to an option to save a GP state.

And I like the idea of an option to replay the videos.

I know about difficulty level but jimr1603 don't know that.

We should integrate easter egg mode in story mod :
A big female rabbit with a bowtie on her head in overworld that lost her little kids --> the bunnies. You can speak to her...she explains she is "really sad" etc... "Can you help me?" etc...
Then you have finished each track you have access to easter egg mode when you have to make a choice between easy, normal , expert.
When you have caught every bunnies of each track you go again to the mother in overworld --> she offer you a track that is one of the add on: Secret garden(That could be renamed as: Land of the rabbits) . Now you have access to this bonus track thanks to a rabbit hole in overword. (It has to be a surprise: you can't guess that there is this unlockable track in single player mode )
This is the race: Rabbit's mother ask you to race against her. She is bumping like bouncing ball and if she hurts you it has the same effect as the swatter (that will be hard) and if you win the race she offer you a golden rabbit trophy. Then you can do this race as the other races.

But you can also catch rabbits in single player mode and not only the story mode, but you have to meet her in story mode to unlock "secret garden"

I like the idea of someone 'popping' up to give you a new mission - that would give us a nice way of extending overworld, without making the actual track bigger. We can have a camera zoom/movement to show where the new character (or location) is. It could be similar to the soap bubbles we have - you go there and press fire to get the new task.

I like the idea with the bunny up to the final boss battle - this doesn't make too much sense tbh. What about evil fox saying that he has kidnapped all bunnies and hide them everywhere, and we can challenge him if we find them all? Note also the thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4358, in which I actually discuss the art for Easter mode. If we use Easter eggs instead of bunnies this wouldn't work, so perhaps just leave it with bunnies?

This is not inconsistent, in most of the countries the Easter Bunny send easter egg to children, so the bunny in overworld can have lost all his eggs in the tracks . (Maybe young player prefer rabbits instead of eggs ? I don't know )

I also like the idea of an evil fox (Firefox?) who kidnapped all bunnies and hide them everywhere; or little bunnies were scared when they saw nolok's "space ship" (In the first cutscene of the game) so they escape, and run in all tracks to hide themselves . This could be a good explanation. We can also make bunnies with different colors .

Then the boss could be a fox who took advantage that all the rabbit were found by the player to kidnap them -> It could be a race with this fox on "Land of the rabbit" you've just unlock (in a way that the fox is always ahead?), the fox kart should have a cage with some bunnies models insid. There is no weapon on the map but the "mother bunny" give you 30 easter egg you have to fire on the cage to breat it the until 3 laps. The "cage life" could be indicated by a simple green/red bar above the kart like in "follow the leader" mode (it breaks with 20 eggs for example).

I meant that you race against the mother bunny - the rest is fine with me.

The first question is do we actually want a boss battle? While those have a certain appeal, it is actually quite difficult to make a challenging boss battle, plus it might additional need more art work (e.g. to model an evil fox).

The idea about having to hit someone a certain number of times is interesting. We could perhaps have a simple arena, where the AI is just trying to drive away from the player, and the player has to crash into the kart (with a kind of 'lance' with an easter egg at the top). Hmm - not sure, perhaps just throwing is better Well, 'simple' is an understatement, we would still need a way to get the AI to drive there in the first place

I won't have much time to implement this, since we are going to focus on getting 0.8.1 done. For the next release I'd suggest we just add some tracks with Easter Eggs or bunnies, and leave the rest for 0.8.2 (or later).

How about putting one easter egg in a remote place in all of the default tracks. If you can collect them all, a hole opens up somewhere in the overworld (that was previously hidden and locked) for a bonus game.

You would be in a race with a (fire)fox and a rabbit.
If the fox overtook (caught) the rabbit during the race, you loose.
Otherwise, you unlock a fox kart

i think that some tracks could have a lightmap

for example:
fort magma
zen garden (in the cave are lamps)

in shifting sands are palms and other high things and there should be a shadow

and i think that the drivelines in minigolf should be improved, i can overround all 19 ai on hard in less then 9 rounds


and here i can jump over that "hill"

i want to improve the drivelines the next days and then i want to upload the new quads.xml

totally agreed about lightmaps! They are a little long to make but help with definitely welcome on this front

In minigolf, to prevent this kind of small-scale cheating, we sometimes add good old invisible walls

I don't think it's a cheating shortcut - having an invisible wall there would feel strange and restrictive for the player.

I totally agree, this is a very nice shortcut to use. It's one of the things I'd love the AI to 'learn' - i.e. either really learn it from the players, or only use it after the player has discovered it.

i worked on the track and now i have edited the "shortcut"

in this version of this track you can't jump over the hill(i can undo it, if you want)
but now (without this shortcut) the race is a bit harder, because you loose time, when you have to brake and drive around the "hill"

but in the mansion track there are invisible walls, when you drive up the hill and into the house, this should be solved
there could be visible walls and not invisible walls
