Problem - I cant turn Left?

Supertuxkart looks like a great game i just watched the intro movie and got a taste of its action... this i my first linux game download (i use ubuntu 12.4 LTS) My problem is that i cannot turn my kart to the left? i have tried to bind different keys with no sucess? i have trien to download the older version (i installed from the software center) howerver i get a message saying it is incompatable so i must download the ver 8. np thats what i did and it runs beautifually with the one exception that i cant turn left? any help would be apreciated beacause i cant pplay the game like this thanks in advance.

Try to disable some devices in Controls menu, if some device was detected wrongly or something.

I have wireless mouse which is detected as gamepad there . I am on Debian, that is similar but not Ubuntu .

I cannot move left under nitro only . With N key actually , it bloc left, but have it mapped as A,S,D for example that wotks here .

You can try to disable joydev kernel modul if you don't have controlers or if something interfere with others just to test, or.... in /etc/modprobe.d/something.conf

Thank you for the response. I tried to remove the wireless usb mouse and run the game but still no luck I use Unity with the 12.4 so im not sure what you mean by open "controls" and turn some things off. I am also a linux newbie so ill have to look inti it. If you have and other suggestion ill hapliy give it a tray i dont want to give up on this one. it one of the first challanges to overcome on my new Ubuntu system

I wasn't mean to physicaly remove mouse fro OS, just disable it (if you have some devices missdetected) in "Controls" inside the game.

Some keyboards are not happy about all combinations of keys; for example mine did not let me turn left while using nitro, or fire while looking back, but this was solved by moving around some key assignments, in the "Options" screen in STK. Try disabling all input devices other than the keyboard, then try your control keys individually (turn left, right, brake, fire, nitro, look back, reset...). If they work individually, but not in pairs (example: cannot fire while looking back) then change to a different key. CTRL, ALT and SHIFT keys usually work well, because all keyboards support multi-key combinations with these. Space bar can give problems.

on linux systems, the most common cause for this is the OS reporting accelerometers as gamepads, which will then steer your kart like they were gamepads. The solution for this, as mentionned, is to go in options and disable accelerometers
