I'm wondering about the possibility of using an OUYA STK port to inspire/fund development of LAN multiplayer.

Feasible?

I am considering a few options. Someone here also suggested kickstarter. We will see what we might be able to do. Of course the problem is that on a platform like Ouya network multiplayer is (nearly) a must have :(

Cheers,

Just a remark on kickstarter: it only works for the US...

Yes, although to be fair, network multiplayer is THE feature of a kart racer. Looking forward to LAN support :)

I bet a kickstart campaign could make front page of slashdot at least and might generate some new developer interest in getting Multiplayer going.

Just flipping through an analysis of Q3A's network code. It's from a time when connections were slower but Q3A was a pretty good twitch game for 10+ players not only on LAN but on year 2000's internet:

Maybe a gsoc student could work on multiplayer this year.

Hey looks, it's a SourceForge project and a GSOC project! 0.9 w/LAN Multiplayer, here we come!

Hi there!

I am completely new to this forum, and I am not sure I understand this thread.
Is there an existing OUYA port for STK? Or is it planned?
The OUYA really lacks such a fun multiplayer racing game, it would be the most amazing addition to its catalog.
Anyone working on it for GSOC?

Cheers!

Welcome!

No port exists now, and it's not currently planned though we have been looking into whether we could do an Android port at some time in the future. We have been very busy with GSoC and still have a lot of development to do to bring all of our hard-working students work get ready for release, so if you would be interested in helping us out that would be much appreciated. :)
