Limit to number of tracks

I'm reading the forum since this morning, mainly what happened recently, but I've seen an older subject (something like one year ago) and noticed this :
We have to restrict the number of tracks in the base package to avoid that it gets too big.

Even if it is clear that there will not be 50 tracks (or in ten years  ), and that for being included they have to be polished for ensure a global quality, it doesn't mean that there will no increase of the total number of tracks ? (which is actually of 20, the two new replace others if I didn't miss something)

There are actually in the add-ons interesting tracks (I didn't tested these posted recently, but even there were some nice tracks), that may need polishing/error fixing/making reverse possible ; but that are near to be as good as others.
And here we propose new ideas, it would be strange to have some new great tracks for after don't using them, or an old great. :x

(I hope that I don't post in the wrong place)

The point of stkaddons is to have the choice of other add-ons. The STK team browses it and occasionally they'll find one they like (like subsea). Remember they're looking for multiple things including gfx quality, toy, and what have you. Also they want them to meat the STK standards. STKaddons isn't a holding place. If you don't like any tracks you can delete them and you can download any you want from stkaddons.

This could be considered the right place... but you can also post a topic in STK General.

Hi,

I've moved this into a separate thread, since this is clearly not a track idea ;)

I can't guarantee one way or the other. We might reduce the number of available tracks (e.g. perhaps some really good tracks become rather big), to make the download smaller - or we might even include only a single track and offer a base package to be downloaded using the download manager (not that I have any intentions of doing it), or we might increase it (over time larger package sizes are more acceptable since download speeds increases - ~150MB packages around 6 years ago was a lot, at that time we got complaints about 90MB). Also note that by adding the story mode now some tracks are tied to the overworld: removing the sandtrack for example would require changing the overworld as well.

Sure. Our goal is to make more high quality tracks available as addons - partly by allowing people to vote in game (so that high quality tracks can be discovered easier), or even (if we find the man power) by better filtering what we accept.

Cheers,
Joerg

Ok for the separate thread I wasn't sure about how to do. ^^'

Thanks for your answer. :D
I see your point, and I'm glad that we're mainly agreed.
What I find important in the package of track included in the game is that only tracks which are in this package are in the defaults challenges, grand-prix or as you evoke, the overworld. And most players will not modify the scripts for having their own challenges/grand-prix.
Having nice tracks on addons is pleasant, having a system to find easily these which are good would be even better, but the experience is not entirely the same, and it's why I would like to see in the future some of them in an increased package. :)

Just an idea. Have users online able to assemble grand prixs out of add-on tracks. Then if someone happens to have all the tracks in that grand prix he/she will be able to play it.
