Any way to keep versions seperate?

I downloaded the 0.8 alpha to Linux Mepis, (the same one I was having trouble with the nightlies), put the data files with the other game data files, put the executable with the other game executables and......it didn't work, just like 0.6.2, 0.7.3 and the nightlie. ;( So I am wondering: Is it possible to have two versions of STK on one OS (Windows XP)? Somehow keeping them separated? Because I really don't want to erase all my 0.7.3 stuff while I'm testing.

Don't move anything. Just extract into a folder, perhaps mark 'supertuxkart' as executable if needed, and play.
Yes you can have two versions installed at the same time. But if you want to keep your configuration file, highscores and challenge progression you'll have to move/rename them before changing between the different versions.

RaceAce: I currently have on my computer:
Supertuxkart 0.6.2
Supertuxkart 0.7.3
Supertuxkart 0.7.3 Halloween Edition (our edit).
Supertuxkart 0.8 nightly build.
All work. Just put in separate folders.
Config, highscores and challenge records are shared in the 0.7 series. 0.6.2 can easily coexist as it has a completely different system.

Rename as in, like, "config-1", highscores-1", etc? or something different? And where should I move the files to?

Whatever or wherever. They just need different names/locations so one version won't overwrite the other, and then you'll have to rename/move them back if you want to use the other version again. Not the most convenient, I know, but that's how it is.

What if I rename the whole supertuxkart file? Will that work?

Which of these do you mean:
1.: The config FOLDER/DIRECTORY?
2.: The Supertuxkart FOLDER/DIRECTORY?
3.: The Supertuxkart EXECUTABLE?
1.: Yes. Just you have to put the name back to the default name when you want to play for that version.
2.: No.
3.: No.
I hope this helps.
