New Track Makers Guide Needed

New Track Makers Guide Needed

Postby Hero » 31 Oct 2012, 04:23

Hello.

As you know STK 0.8 Alpha 1 has just been released. With 0.8 comes new track abilities or requirements. So now a new Track Maker's Guide on supertuxkart.sourceforge.net must be created.

This is not urgent. However there are probably multiple part time track makers who want to make for the new version. I am already getting to work on some updates to the track maker's guide so that a 0.8 version can be included but we may not want to have a direct link to the new guide until it is partly finished.

This might not be my job but I think it best to get a head start. Sorry if I should not do this. :)

New track requirements? Seems like there's a memo I missed...

Hero making a good track guide is not so easy. In this case the better solution is just to update our wiki with the new requirements.

I also would like to write some articles about the process of creating a track but for the moment it's not a priority.

Updating the wiki could cause some confusion for those using 0.7.x. We still have the one for 7.2-/2.5- .

Also as we all know Blender 2.64 has been released.

We already need a slightly different export script do we not?

You will need a recent exporter for blender 2.64 yes, but the wiki page always links to the latest one I believe

Will the new exporter export 0.7.3 compatible stuff?

We have no intention to maintain old scripts for old STK versions (and documentations for old scripts).

Cheers,
