Fade In On Music

Much of the music is made to loop. Therefore some of the time it doesn't start in the right area and even so suddenly that one will jump, spill coffee on the keyboard or the like.

So I was thinking of an option in the .music (what records the name) file that allows you to set whether it fades in or not when it starts on a track. Fading in in the actual music would sound weird when it looped and an Always Fade In could ruin some prices.

What do you think?

What do you mean "doesn't start in the right area"? It starts again at the beginning, what is so unexpected with that?

The music is an endless loop. Therefore there is no beginning to start at.

Feature, not bug.

I know. What I mean is how the file is made. It is often made so that it is an endless loop giving a rather odd "start" since there is no real start. So a fade in on these pieces would be good.

OK, guess that makes sense, but I don't think it's that odd the way it is now.

Not odd... annoying. Kids our getting blamed for doughnut crumbs on keyboards! It just is inconvenient for your ears and maybe even your quick start.

Which bits of music do you have in mind? I think I understand what you're saying, but there are definitely exceptions I think, like the music for Fort Magma or Hacienda. I know when I compose music I try to avoid this situation.

Maybe a nice way to stop this problem would be to have a separate audio file for each track that plays a short intro to the music before the actual loop starts. They do this a lot in Mario Kart Wii. This would also give a bit more flexibility to the people composing the music.
Obviously though we could not do this for older music that has already been finished ages ago.

It's just an idea, but I think it would be better than the music fading in at the start of every race. That just wouldn't feel right, especially in a more fast - paced race or boss race.

I agree about the intro.

The fade in would be set in the .music (where you set the author and name of the work). If it's required for some pieces it would be set.

An intro and then looping without stop is not a bad idea, it's probably just not something we have the time to tackle right now
