Overworld teleportation

Hello, I'm writing in reaction of latest blogpost, but I thought the forum was better than blog-comments for this type of discussion:

Speaking of teleportation, I thought I'd quickly mention that in the Overworld you can now click on the map and you'll get teleported nearby that challenge orb. That'll save some driving back and forth.

I really think that this should only be activated on demo/mapmaker mode, because the point of the overworld IS that you have to drive through it.
Besides, the overworld is pretty small right now and I can quickly go from one point to another. Having infinite nitro is a good idea, teleporting is not, IMO.

Indeed you are right; blog comments aren't the best way to have a coherent discussion about a single topic.

Personally I think teleporting to a challenge should be allowed only after unlocking it, so you have to discover them and also gain access to them before having a quick way to move between them. Also, I think later on we should make some incentives to driving back and forth - some kind of achievement system and things to pick up, and stuff like that. Then we could perhaps lock it down further so people have to drive back and forth, but I think something should be given to players for the effort. Making people drive back and forth just to fill time seems unneccessary and possibly annoying.

The overworld made me think about Diddy Kong Racing on Nintendo 64, but in this game, there were many zones which can be unlocked during the story. So, putting teleporation portal between zones (hidden somewhere for each zone) is more rewarding since you have to find them than clicking on the map.

yes I agree the current system is not perfect, though my goal at this time is to get the basics of it laid down to build upon :) that being said we can sure discuss what we would like eventually
