bonifarz {l Wrote}:Okay, I just tried to make an ogg file to clarify which shortcut I mean here. I tried to keep it below 3MB, and any suggestions for better recording options are highly welcome. Also, I cannot record without a major drop in the games FPS, which makes good driving a matter of luck.

Try Camstudio (www.camstudio.org), or a trial version of FRAPS (fraps.com)

bonifarz {l Wrote}:And sure, I will post/edit my times in the format you prefer to copy/paste.

Thanks!
I see now which shortcut you are talking about now.

Hi again.

I hope it is okay to put a larger attachment here, but I wanted to post a video of somewhat acceptable quality. The purpose here is to show you why "what a mesh" is so much fun for a time trial challenge. The time is close to my record, and as you can see, there are plenty of minor flaws in my driving. I hope this will encourage somebody to accept the challenge!

By the way, I tried camstudio once and was not quite happy with the result. VLC seems fine, but it is difficult to tune the settings to your liking.
And before I forget about that one:

You're pretty good. Maybe I should kick myself into making more tracks - quick ones, like What a mesh, so they actually get finished. We'll see.
Hey pal, I took an oath for justice! "In happy days or tightest tights..." or something like that.

It seems some tracks that were designed for earlier versions are narrower and therefore feel faster as well. That's cool for time trial, but not really enjoyable against 20 karts.

Among the official tracks, minigolf is certainly one of the most entertaining ones for time trial.

No video this time, as I don't want to spoil the fun of finding the shortcuts. This time should not be very difficult to beat once you found them.

Whoa. I know quite a lot of the shortcuts on Minigolf, and I cannot get close (running 2:10:xx -ish).
Can you post a video maybe? I am very interested in your strategy :)

Boards will be updated ASAP.

Just to be clear: The track is Minigolf Mischief, not Zen Garden. I used three shortcuts, two somewhat obvious ones and a more tricky jump from the pond site to the windmill. It is a really cool track, so I may try to post a video later.

EDIT: Speaking of strategies, I think you should add one rule: Disallow the usage of the rescue button. We should avoid strategies like this one:

Yay, finally someone faced the challenge! Well done =)

So you really went through one lap without a zipper, leaving out the windmill shortcut?

Hi!

felino on Coyote Canyon with Wilber 3:57:30 using 0.7.3 [1 - 1 - 1]

No shortcuts used (BTW, I don't know if there is any shortcut here, I guess there's not). I think that better time can be achieved, but not much, maybe several seconds max.
