How to tell blender what is the track object

Postby Knitter » 19 Feb 2012, 18:07

I've been testing out some ideas on new tracks but I can never export my track correctly, I always get empty xml files and STK complains about missing models. My track only has one single object that is supposed to represent the track, I made it by extruding a plane into the track shape.

I've followed the wiki pages about page creation, and I've activated the flag marking my scene as a track.

I'm just trying to export the track, I want no other objects and I have no other objects in my blender file, only one plane that was extruded to make the track and the two vertices that tell the direction (this part I had some trouble understanding as it's not explained and it makes little sense ), so it there any magical thing I must activate in order for my track to be exported? I just wanted to test the layout before doing anything else.

I'm using blender 2.60.

Hi,

you have nothing specific to tell because everything that is not marked as ignore will be exported. Maybe you can share the blend file and the exported result.

One thing to make sure is that you have a driveline, otherwise STK will not know where to place the karts

What object needs to be a driveline? I selected the track as the driveline, but does it need to be any specific type? Files can be found here http://www.wuala.com/Knitter/wp/STK/

I have some trouble following the tutorial, it seems it is either missing some things or I'm not really understanding the steps in there. Right now I was just interested in getting my demo track to export properly and show on STK.

Hi,

the problem is that your blend file contains *only* a driveline; you need to have both a driveline and a mesh to actually drive on

Hum... ok, I'll add a mesh and try again, thanks.
