Gamepad not working with SuperTuxKart

Hello all.
This is my first post here. I enjoy very much playing STK.
The only problem I had is the following: this is one of the few games in which I can't use gamepad.
Any special configuration is needed? Could please anybody point me the procedure? I think it must be an easy solution, but I couldn't find yet.

I'm using Debian Linux (testing - Squeezy). I'm not at home now, so I don't recall exactly the version of STK, but is the one from the squeezy repository.

Thanks a lot, regards,
Matías

Hi,

can you define "can't use gamepad"? Did you go in preferences and try to configure your keys to use the gamepad?

(Also note that STK 0.7, under development, has totally new gamepad handling which is more flexible than in 0.6 so likely it will be easier in 0.7)

I assume it's a 0.6* version then. There shouldn't be a special setup or configuration necessary, except going into the config to define the buttons you want to use (but from memory you should always be able to select items and go up/down in the menu with the gamepad). Does this part at least work? Can you send us the output on the terminal? There is also a --gamepad-debug command line option - again try this and send us the output.

Cheers,
Joerg

Auria and Hiker,

Thanks for your answers.
I'll check the points you gave me as soon as I have a little time at home (my kids really enjoy playing STK even using just keyboard :) ) and I'll let you know the results.

Regards,
Matías
