I've seen the karts blink before, but it was notoriously hard to film it. I finally have it on film.

It's especially visible as they fall. Slow down the film to 1/2 speed and keep your eyes on Gnu as he drives (floats) off the ledge.

They do have a tendency to blink for me as well. It's especially noticeable in the add-on track Industry.
I think this has been prevalent since... well forever. It's no big deal, but it's a little puzzling.

Maybe this could be added the bug tracker?
