We have been thinking about this - we would easily have some nicely separated, quite challenging areas (networking, AI), but the problem is having a mentor (which I think would have to be me), finding enough time for that (which is a problem for me), and having a backup-mentor as requested by google.

So, unfortunately (esp. with the deadline being today) we had to pass this year.

Glad that you like it - and hopefully we can get some students interested in STK even without participation in GSoC.

And I am dreaming of network support!
One more question: where can I find the status of the german translation process for STK 0.7?
Is this the only way to find out how far its done or is it already finished?

To check the current status, you can get the file by using the "browse SVN" feature of sourceforge : http://supertuxkart.svn.sourceforge.net ... k/data/po/ for trunk.
However, if you wish to help, I guess this requires coordinating with the person that translated it last, which might need to be done on a case-by-case basis. Hopefully this person will have left their e-mail address in the .po file.

I think you want "de.po"

EDIT: I see you deleted the post I was replying to

I followed your link and found the latest supertuxkart.pot file of hikerstk Revision 4300 but there is nothing translated at all. Just a much more older file Revision 2966 is completed, but the Projekt name is for STK 0.5.
So now it's getting interesting, after I wanted to open the latest file of Revision 4300 again it is just empty and Poedit just asks me to type in the name of the projekt. I really get mad and I tried everything I can imagine but noting helps. I downloaded it again, it doesn't help, I took a look with the Windows editor and it's not empty. There is just left to restart my computer, but well... I do this later.

The latest de translation seems to be of donconso and is 13 month and 3 weeks old (Revision 2966). The projekt name is for STK 0.5 in Poedit.
There are 3 newer versions of the supertuxkart.pod file made by hikerstk but they are all empty.

@jpenguin: It was my mistake I mixed up the latest de.po and the supertuxkart.pot file, sorry.
