Here is a stupid question, how fast should a kart go on average?
Some people are like slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't help smiling when you shove them down the stairs.

Depends on the difficulty level (novice/intermediate/expert) you have chosen. There is a configuration file that defines these speeds for the differen levels.
