SuperTuxKart 0.7.3 released

SuperTuxKart 0.7.3 released

Postby Auria » 14 Nov 2011, 02:52

4 months after SuperTuxKart 0.7.2, 128 tickets later and a truckload of changes, we are proud to present the latest and greatest version, SuperTuxKart 0.7.3. The big surprise is the very late-minute inclusion of the very beautiful Minigolf track by Mac, thanks for the contribution! (Don't let its childish look trick you however as it is a very challenging track :)

The biggest changes since 0.7.2 include :
  • New Minigolf track
  • New Zen Garden track
  • New Subsea track
  • New Island battle arena
  • New Suzanne kart
  • New graphical effects
  • New weapons 'Swatter' and 'Rubber Ball'
  • Added Thunderbird as race referee
  • 3 Strikes Battles now displays lives as spare tires
  • Improved bubble gum
  • See progression during Grand Prix
  • Improve physics for tall karts (e.g. Adiumy)
  • Lots of bug fixes
  • Improved kart control at high speeds
  • Better placement of rescued karts
  • Transition track-making to blender 2.5/2.6

So now head to our downloads page, enjoy and give us a lot of feedback!

Congrats for another well made release. :D
I am really grateful to be in this community and maybe have a small part in all the work that's being put into this game.
Hey pal, I took an oath for justice! "In happy days or tightest tights..." or something like that.

There is no CMakeLists.txt file in the source archive for 0.7.3, despite the wiki is saying we can use CMake for building the game :-/

Joerg :( that's why I am a fan of the 'svn export then zip it' approach, this way we would never miss any file

Auria, did the fix for the numeric keypad bindings in OS X 10.7 not make its way into the final version? I can start the game, but can't drive.

yes the fix should be there. But maybe try to configure the keys again, your old bindings may not be valid

Thank you! Yes, I deleted the old configuration, added a new one. Numeric keys now show up as "numpad 4" instead of just "4."

Love the improvements thus far; the ticking sound added to the time bombs is a special touch.

I'm looking forward to a difficulty adjustment, maybe a slider to make the AI cars just a bit faster or something. Expert mode is easy to beat; I won Undersea by a large margin the first time I played it.

And thanks again for putting the time and effort into such a terrific game. It's so nice to take a little "race" break every now and again.

At this time the difficulty is very unequal; in some tracks like shifting sands it's very very easy to beat AIs and in old mine it's nearly impossible. We hope to tweak that eventually to make an AI that provides a better gameplay experience

Thanks for that. I've re-uploaded the source package on SF, and now it includes CMake files (and some additional bugfixes that were necessary).

Cheers,

Thank you for this great game. I like it so much :)

The static packages are all online.

There are packages for Image Linux (x86 64-bit, 32-bit, 32-bit older systems, and PPC), Image FreeBSD (x86 32-bit and 64-bit), Image NetBSD (x86 32-bit), Image Solaris (x86 32-bit), Image Mac OS X (for older Macs with Panther or higher PPC 32-bit), and Image Windows (for older PC's with Windows 2000 or higher 32-bit).

Have a lot of fun with these packages :)

STK 0.7.3 works on ReactOS 0.3.13 without addon manager:

What is ReactOS?

ReactOS is an open source computer operating system intended to be binary compatible with application software and device drivers made for Microsoft Windows NT versions 5.x and up (Windows 2000 and its successors). A spin-off of a previous attempt to clone Windows 95, development started in early 1998, and has continued with the incremental addition of features already found in Windows.

ReactOS is primarily written in C, with some elements, such as ReactOS Explorer, written in C++. The project has been ported to the ARM and AMD64 processor architectures, and partially implements Windows API functionality. The latter is assisted by including parts from the Wine compatibility layer for Unix-like operating systems, but other functionality is implemented by the developers themselves. However, progress has been hampered by a lack of developers with the relevant skill-sets.
