Anchor Replacement Suggestion

I was thinking instead of the anchor animation, how about if cement is dropped on the 1st place kart? Also, make it last a little longer than it currently does (total of 5 seconds at 5mph).

Animation: A bucket appears on top of 1st place, and then it turns over dumping the cement on the player. 1st place kart then turns gray and begins to slow down (same anchor effect). To add some humor it could be evil-tux the one that is holding the cement bucket. The idea is that he is mad for being removed from the game. The humor is that only those who played the older versions will get why he is doing such an evil thing. :p

I read there was a plan for an anchor replacement, but I think what it needs is a little better animation + longer duration.

Sorry, but you're way late. We have already a new item to replace the anchor with. :p

Could be a bit more helpful by saying what or linking to the thread or saying what version of STK it's in (whatever is quickest to do so).

Well, it's in SVN, and will probably be ready for 0.7.3. I wrote a blogpost with some quick info about it in the middle: http://stkblog.net

Ah, specifically this post:

STK Blog {l Wrote}:We're also getting a rubber ball weapon from hiker, which will eventually replace the anchor weapon. The rubber ball bounces along the track, aiming for the leading kart, with the added nasty of squashing karts along the way, which will slow them down temporarily. Hopefully it should be easier to understand than an anchor popping up from nowhere, as the rubber ball will bounce more rapidly as it's reaching its goal. We could use some nice sound effects, both for this weapon and the swatter, so contributions are welcome. ;) The appearance of the ball might still change, so I'm not posting a screenshot of it this time.

A problem with the anchor is that you cannot try to avoid it. We like items that you can avoid if you have a lot of skill

And at this time Bananas can still give anchors

Great item, but could use more work. Also, anchor on a kart is kind of off(we are not driving a ship :p). I posted what it should be replaced by in the 1st post (didn't you read it? lol). Also, Arthur posted the actual replacement that is going to be introduced.

@Auria
How about letting players carry certain items behind them? (cupcake, plunger, bowling ball) So if you want to hold an item, you have to hold the fire button instead of just pressing it.

Hmm well I'm not sure I see what would be the advantahe to this?

Protection from getting hit by cupcakes or well aimed bowling ball.

Just to show, there is a way to dodge MKWii spinies - a speed boost(mushroom) right as the shell comes homing downwards, and it is feasible.
Similar method? Y/N?
