Controlling kart and question about time trial and challenge

First time trial, if it's suppose to be about skill and if there is no powerups why are there powerdowns and nitro? Bananas and nitro kind of defeat the purpose of driving only with skill :).

I dusted off my Logitech Rumblepad 2 and tried using it with STK but sometimes, if I get a penalty for accelerating before time, instead of going forward, my kart starts going backwards even though I'm accelerating. Has this happen to anyone? It only happens with the joypad and not with the keyboard and I also think it happens if I restart a race too many times (was trying to improve a record :) ), I push the stick forward and the kart goes backwards :(.

There is also some sensibility that I can't pinpoint the origin, it seems that if I press the acceleration stick after I finish one race in a challenge, the next race will give me a time penalty even though I don't have my hand on the joypad. I end up with many penalties that I can't relate to any key pressing.

EDIT:

Instead of creating a new topic I'll use this one. It's the second time I finish the grand prix challenge against the 3 expert AIs with 29 points, above all others and I don't win the challenge I end up being second. The first time I didn't even had a finish screen, I jumped from the track directly to the main menu.

Do I have to win every race in the challenge to be able to win it? Shouldn't the player with most points win?

I had a similar problem once, when I tried the "all tracks" GP. In the final ranking, there were some karts with 23 points (example value) above some others with 35 (example value)... strange.

Possibly; are there other opinions on this? After all, avoiding bananas is part of driving skill ;)

I agree this is annoying, unfortunately I cannot reproduce this issue so I'm not suren what I can do about it

Same as above :( I am not able to reproduce this issue so I'm not sure what to do about it

Definitely the one with most points should win. I created a ticket about this one, this is weird
: https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/super ... ticket/392 (if this happens to you again, maybe you can take a screenshot of the screen so we can see the points?)

Oh and I forgot to ask : Knitter, are you using the latest version of STK? (0.7.2)

Yes, I'm using STK 0.7.2 on OS X 10.6.8.

Ok, another question :
do you mean that in the end-of-race list, you were correctly first, but in the final "podium" screen you were second? or you were also second in the end-of-race listing?

I've been trying to duplicate the damn victory bug but whenever I'm recording I either win or loose and the bug doesn't manifest. I'm suspecting I can replicate if I win with less than 30 points since it happened both times I reached 29 points. I can show a video with the penalty bug and I found another issue when I press the rescue mode, the kart starts moving backwards.

I'm not sure if the problem is really in STK, and I'm more inclined to believe it's a problem with the pad...

The final listing, before the podium, showed that I had more points than the rest, I saw the animation moving my name to the top, but in too occasions I was shown as second in the podium, in one occasion I didn't even see the podium and was just sent to the main menu. I've so far been unable to reproduce it again.

Ok thanks I'll check if I can find anything wrong

In my case, it was the animation on the rank-listing which was not adapted to the scores. It seems this problem only appears when a lot of consecutive races are made, so it should be easier to reproduce it in the "all tracks" GP.
