Frankfurt online events' announcements

PostPosted: 03 Mar 2021, 21:08

I just thought it's bad to capture the topic about team racing with multiple announcements of some online events, and as I am planning to host (together with other players) more GPs and probably other events, I'll post some info here when it appears. Maybe I shouldn't do it on the forum? Idk you have to tell me then.

Typically, you'll also be able to see event announcements on some of Fra servers too, posting here so that people can respond and those who are less frequently present online can see. Feel free to discuss politely the events described here / suggest times to schedule them / suggest ideas / etc, and also feel free to make own competitions - the more online events, the better for STK (more fun, more videos - more potential new players - even more fun - ...). However, please make another topic for own competitions.

We plan to host another team GP on Saturday, March 6, 19:00 UTC.

Probably 11 races and ingame choice again, for more than 15-20 players I would make a second server. Takes about 30-45 minutes but another GP can be started if enough players stay.

Team GP is a regular GP but with players divided into teams, karts are colored into team color ingame (please use the unset kart color for the best experience). There are individual and team ranking.

We'll make another team GP on Saturday, March 20th, 19:00 UTC and further. You can let us know about your participation using
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
/register gp
command on Frankfurt servers (if it produces an error message, please retry)

There will be several (at least 1 lol) servers with capacity limited to 10-16 players (there may be servers with different capacity). Each server will have an independent Grand Prix.

Next GPs will be held on Saturday, April 3rd, 19:00 UTC and further. Everything just like last time, you can register in the same way if you want us to know about that.

I won't be present so in case of questions, ask those players who have hammers near their names.

Due to DST in Europe, please recheck your time:https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=team+gp+april+3+2021&iso=20210403T19&p1=1440&ah=1

We will hold another GP on Saturday, April 17th, 19:00 UTC and further. This time there will be a normal GP server (probably 2) and a Frankfurt Two-like GP server where you will need a few addons to join. You will still be able to join whatever server you like.

Remember that you need to reset your color to see all colors properly.

The next Grand Prix will be special and will include all tracks by skindoormimiz (and only them), and will be held on
    - Friday, May 7th, 20:00 UTC (first 17 tracks);
    - Saturday, May 8th, 19:00 UTC (next 17 tracks);
    - Saturday, May 8th, 21:00 UTC (next 17 tracks);
    - Sunday, May 9th, 19:00 UTC (final 17 tracks).

This GP won't be team-based, expect the next team GP next week (as usual, every two weeks). We don't expect many players to be present or to do many tracks, feel free to join or leave at any point. If you don't have the next track installed, you'll miss the corresponding race. Most likely, the tracks will go in the order of upload: https://pastebin.com/C2kLsd0A

I also created a playlist with videos showing the GP races: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFy2bF5qbVefxBSNYLaath3nrRELjiPFX. I could miss or forget something, feel free to tell about that!

We will hold a team Grand Prix on Friday, June 25, and Saturday, June 26, from 18:00 UTC and further. There will also be a server with random powerups.
As always, we require no tracks, and you don't need to register - the only thing you'd better do is changing kart color to default. You can also try git version of STK which highlights non-default kart colors, this can help not shooting your teammates :D

Oh! Did fodoman tell you about an idea of making a long race GP? I had a long discussion after a fierce duel over 20 laps on Zen Garden, but this could be a coincidence. Don't you think this idea could go even further? 20-lap-races championship? Have you tried that in the past?

It was indeed a coincidence, I heard about his plans several days after I decided to make one GP's races a bit longer.
I appreciate any ideas but I prefer to use those which will work - right now I am not sure there are many players who can play several (less than 5 is too few for a GP in my opinion) 20-lap games in a row at a specific time, especially given the fact I announced quite late this week.

I am also a bit concerned about the races themselves being interesting - default lap races are short enough to not have big gaps, while competing against different tier players for 20 laps can result in big gaps. Items exist though and I know cases when the leader lost 10s at once due to items+lapped cars+etc, and having lapped cars and teams can add strategy twist to races, but considering all the above, for now I don't plan to host long GPs very frequently. Anyway, let's see whether 2.5x/3x length is ok

I would also like to say that the next GPs will be probably held on November 5, 6, 19, 20, rather than in two weeks from now (for personal reasons). Also note that on October 31, some countries change their time, so please check the times more carefully.
