And which version is the one you used? Or did you modify it?

Auria {l Wrote}:Thanks hollidrio, we'll see what we can do about this. Unforutnately there seems to be a bug in ubuntu's curl

I remember that Arthur had a similar problem, and that it was caused by using the gnutls version of libcurl(?) Arthur, can you supply the missing details?

But it would certainly be worth trying to use a different libcurl library.

Cheers,
Joerg

On my brother's computer with Ubuntu 10.10, switching from/to gnutls/openssl version of libcurl didn't help, even with clean builds. But if my memory doesn't deceive me, it did help on my own computer in 11.04. I can check that, if you wish.

Hi,

for all the people with problems using the addons manager: could you check if the directory ~/.local/share/supertuxkart exists, and if not, create this directory? I am fixing this (and also add proper error handling) now.

Thanks!

The directory did not exist. But when I created it, all the seg faults went away.

Same here. No more segfaults with stk-news enabled after creating ~/.local/share/supertuxkart/

Thanks for the feedback. The bug is already fixed in trunk. But I am also going to avoid this crash and handle the error properly - gee, two bad things at the same time ;)

I don't know where I can talk about this problem, so I write few words here :

When you play with a friend screen is splited but view too, it isn't easy to anticipate trajectory because of the lack of visibility

Can view be resized ?

asciimonster: definitely, we will most likely make a RC2 soon

How would you want it resized?? We can't use more space than is available on screen

Auria {l Wrote}:Alright folks... sorry. We found a bug in the add-ons. The add-ons menu will not work the first time you open STK, and you may get a crash on exit. Normally you will get the add-ons mmenu correctly on the second launch though

So THAT was it. I thought it was a problem with my Azul skin! >^>

I suspect that this is an irrlicht bug.

Can you try to manually unzip the file:

Manually unzip works :)

Increasing the view angle might result in weird-looking results, because as you increase the view angle the objects are more and more distorted, so I'm not convinced

Joerg, could you add the following libs to the windows package?

libssl32.dll
libeay32.dll
libcurl.dll

curl-7.21.6-ssl-sspi-zlib-static-bin-w32.zip Win32 2000/XP

xeno74 {l Wrote}:
hiker {l Wrote}:but I would be happy if someone with a windows 2000 system could supply a version of libcurl that works.

Cheers,
Joerg

It works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joerg, thank you so much :)

You need following package from curl.haxx.se:

curl-7.21.6-ssl-sspi-zlib-static-bin-w32.zip Win32 2000/XP

Copy following libraries in the folder SuperTuxKart:

libssl32.dll
libeay32.dll
libcurl.dll

Hi,

xeno74 {l Wrote}:Joerg, could you add the following libs to the windows package?

libcurl.dll

curl-7.21.6-ssl-sspi-zlib-static-bin-w32.zip Win32 2000/XP

that was already my plan, and I tried today, but I couldn't get it to work. I tried:
  • Just replacing the libs (--> failed to initialise properly) - not surprising since the libs you linked were 7.21.6, while stk was compiled with 7.21.0
  • I tried using the 7.21.0 package, but with the same results (again not entirely surprising since the compile options are likely different)
  • I could not find a development package (i.e. one that includes the .h files, the .lib, and the dll files) for 7.21* - they only contained the .dll files, which I then can't link (I copied the include files from the 7.21.6 source package).
Did you just replace the dll on Windows 2000? And do those libs work on xp/vista as well for you?

Cheers,
Joerg

Yes, I did replace the dlls on Windows 2000 :) I don't know if those libs work on XP/Vista.

What do you think about a separate Win2000 package?

Thanks a lot,

New version not listed under playdeb. Do you STK folks have a contact with them, or should I try myself? I find it easier to get most of my games from there. Also, for some reason after downloading the STK 0.7.1b in Kubuntu there is no kart-engine noise. You can hear the bumps and sharp turn, but no engine noise.:(

this is a RC, not a stable release, so it's expected not to be found widely. The stable release, to come in a few weeks, should be more widely available

A Win2000 setup package is available:

SuperTuxKart-0.7.2-rc1-Win2000-Setup.exe.zip

It works on my Win 2000 and XP computer :)

This package is for Win 2000 SP4, XP without SP, and XP SP1 systems.

Hi, I have problem running STK with my snes-controller because when I bind the turning to the d-pad it keeps turning even if I let go of the d-pad, it works fine if I bind it to the L and R buttons to turn, it seems that STK interprets the d-pad as an analog d-pad.

My system is Ubuntu 11.04 amd64 and found this in supertuxkart-0.7.2-rc1-linux-glibc2.12-x86-64.

STK is fun to play nevertheless :)
