problem configuring game controllers

Hi i have installed STK v0.7.1b on two of my Windows XP Pro computers. On both computers the keyboard controls work fine, and so do our Logitech Dual Action game controllers when used without configuration. But when we try to configure buttons, we lose all ability to accelerate. Any ideas on what we are doing wrong?

can you be a little more specific? Is it that there is a problem in the input configuration screen? Or the input screen looks all OK but there is a problem in-game?
