Can we play split screen vs. split screen?

Hello,

Is it possible to play STK split screen vs. split screen? E.g. 2 players share a (split) screen and play (local) LAN vs. 2 other players who share another (split) screen. Or, more general, like this:

           Split screen A ---------- 1-4 players
                       |
   Local LAN or even WAN
                       |
           Split screen B ---------- 1-4 players

In the Online screen, hit the "Enable splitscreen or player handicaps" checkbox

Does this also work cross-platform, i.e. two players on one Android device + two players on one PC? Even more? What is the limit of split-screen players in LAN? I am not talking about WAN (with higher latency etc.), but rather about GFX. I assume that 4 players maximum can play on one device, because you cannot display more than 4 on one display (well, you could, if it was large and expensive enough ). So if there are 3 devices on LAN, could there be 3x 4 = 12 human players?
