Help: Tips for 1 of the Grand Prix

I am referring to one of the last ones which contain: Fort Magma, Coyote Canon, Old mine, XR591, etc. I can manage to get 1st place on Fort Magma and Coyote Canon, but old mine is just to darn difficult to remain in 1st place with expert AI. If I run to fast, I risk getting stuck on one of the pillars or woods on the bridge. And If I slow-down a bit, the AI zooom ahead. You might be thinking, "well it is just 1 level relax". No, it gets more difficult since XR591 has a lot of drops that can reset your car, or send you backwards. In addition, the last one would be the plant race (your running on a leaf in the water), but today I got the highway level for some reason. The highway level was my fault because I had not played it before, so I didn't know the tract was good. However, the plant level I find just as difficult as old mine since there is a lot of drop reset spots, and you can get stuck easily if you speed up too much.
So anybody who passed this Grand Prix in 1st, have any tips to share?

Hi,
indeed old mine is VERY difficult

but I generally manage quite well in the other tracks. Generally the trick is to go for nitro bottles and gift boxes, the AI is not good at them

And prefer nitro over the powerup boxes. Remember, don't use your nitro all up at once, and save a bit of nitro for when you need it (if you're stuck, shot, or anything like that).
Also, choose a kart which is stable with the physics. I.e. don't use the three-wheeled Adiumy on bumpy tracks like Old Mine. Tux is the safest bet, but the others are generally okay as well. Just stay away from Adiumy. Ugh.

I've found Beagle seems to be a good kart.

In "Old Mine" the expert AI is really challenging. It's the only track I regularly lose every 3 to 5 races - and nearly every one if I have 19 enemy AIs. Then the mine is full and you have hardly place to overtake the others.

The other hard tracks (IMO) are Lighthouse and maybe Secret Garden.
Just btw, my favorite kart is Nolok. It used to be the best for me in 0.6 (only bad against Mozilla and Gooey), so I continued to use it in 0.7.

Just to clarify, in the physics Adiumy still has 4 wheels; what makes it less stable is possibly its smaller size

I feel sorry for this character. It is so hard to drive with him, that he is probably on the "do not pick" list for everyone.

I passed this Grand Prix finally today!

Also save nitro for uphill climbs:
Getting nitro on Fort Magma before the lava tunnel and then using it on that big uphill climb guaruntees you a big lead.Puffy is a very stable kart as well; he is harder to push around than Tux too, helps a lot with those tricky AI karts.
I usually use either Pidgin, Puffy, Nolok, or Tux.

Arthur {l Wrote}:Congratulations.

Thanks. I managed to pull it off with pidgin.
