Hello,
I am experiencing serious graphics problems while playing STK (since 0.7.0, I got the same problem while playing 0.7.1b (littel-jo's ppa).
The problem doesn't appear straight away, it usually appears before the end of the first race I play.
The bug renders items of the window as big pixel squares. It affects some of the scenery, the position of the players (top left of the screen), the nitro, the winning screens, the menus and text in general, the bananas and chewing-gum (i probably forgot some of the elements it affects).
I've attached a screen-shots of the problem.

I am running a amd64 ubuntu 10.10.
I have a ati radeon hd 5xxx series graphics card and I am using amd's FGLRX (version 2:8.780) driver.


I would be pleased to help fix this bug by providing more useful information.

Hi,

unfortunately, this looks like a driver issue. Probably STK 0.6 worked fine for you because it was using an old render engine that pushed the driver less

You could maybe turn down the graphics level to minimum in the options, this should improve the situation a little

I also got this problem (but very rarely) in the characters selection menu in ubuntu 64b.

I wouldn't have imagined it was a driver issue, the radeon hd 5xxx is a rather recent graphic card, and I had never had any problems with other games.

I might try the open source driver one of these days to see if it works better.

The fact that it is a recent card is not a point that raises the chances of the driver being stable. On the contrary, the driver has less been tested than other, older drivers ^^
