I hate to say this but, I'm losing interest in STK. It's just not fun anymore... Sorry if this offends anyone who likes the game.

I don't have a lot of interest in games, just free software and development. Also free culture-- that includes game assets under a free license.

I'd also love if there were more minetest-like programs, if there were I'm sure I'd try one of them.

What I would enjoy is more programs designed for game creation. Something a bit like Unity, but free software. It could be simpler. I know these are sometimes frowned on by people expecting more features or more power-- for me the educational aspect of helping someone create their first (simple) game is the appeal. Just as a simple example-- nobody I know cares about a new tile-sort game. They're not a dime a dozen, they're a lot cheaper than that-- like a penny a gross. But I still had fun making one, years ago-- got more fun out of making it than playing it, really.

*Why* are you losing interest? Maybe the developers have to change sth to make it interesting for you again?

Or try soccer online! Many players like it and play it. Or extreme racing, that's difficult but can also be fun.

To be honest, if you are losing interest to something, it's ok, this happens. But writing this on a forum probably implies that you have the reason for it that can be discussed. What was fun for you and not anymore?

Have you used Godot before?

Good question. If that's the first thing you think of when I say "like Unity but free software" that's a pretty good endorsement.

I'm actually not a fan of Unity per se, and not just because it's non-free. But I realise its potential to education-- it's not ideal (apart from being non-free, which is far from ideal as well) and it's nice to know free software may already have a contender.

Actually, there's a lot of FOSS game engines. Just google "open source 3d engines".
When I used to be foolish enough to think I could find enough spare time to make a simple game, I thought I'd use this one: https://www.ogre3d.org/

Is there a point to this comment?

Not a point, but an opportunity to learn nonetheless.
