How to Update STK without losing settings?

I just recently updated STK again as there was a new version out, and again, I've lost all of my settings, my account settings, keyboard settings, all of my addon karts and tracks, screen settings, achievements, etc. Very frustrating to have to go through setting it all up again. There must be a way to update the game without losing all my settings because I don't see anyone else complain about this, yet I cannot seem to find a tutorial about it -- how do I do it?

## Disclaimer: I am not a dev nor have I tried this ##
If you can find the old configuration files such as input.xml, they could be compatible with the current version. Do keep in mind that some may not be so ALWAYS keep a backup copy!
I don't recall losing my addons though, that folder seems to be places outside of the version-specific data folders. That could probably be copied across directly.

Are you Scocasso Vegetus in Supertuxkart 0.10 developers playing online video?

Make sure you are using 1.0 stk, there should be local networking, global networking, enter server address and profile buttons when you press online button in main menu

Hm, most apps/games have the settings in another folder separate from the main app/game, so when you update it, settings are not lost. Oh well, small price to pay for a great free game, if I look at it that way :^)

Because 0.9.3 and 1.0 configuration is not compatible each other, sorry

Copying some *.xml for 0.9.3 may or may not work (can crash later in game)
