STK Lite?

STK Lite?

Postby stked » 04 Apr 2012, 01:09

As most of you know, I've been gone for quite a while, due to lack of free time, but I now feel the urge to contribute again. Should I start over on the STK Lite project and make it a reality? I know a lot of people out there (like me) use underpowered computers and could use a lighter load.

Hi....

Just as an opinion and an opinion only, I think it would be a pretty cool idea to have an STK lite. :)

A while back, I tried three different versions of STK on a old(er) Pentium 4 system with 1 GB of memory and a 128 MB Nvidia FX5200 video card. I tried 0.6.2, 0.7svn7132-2 and 0.7.3 and the only one that the system was barely able to handle was 0.6.2, which is what I ended up reinstalling. I don't know if any of this helps you or not but it might give you a frame of reference.

I have a very similar system; from the details given the only difference is my GPU, which is a 512 MB GeForce 7300 GT. I'm pretty sure having a GeForce FX card was killing your performance, those cards are infamous for being wimpy.

Hi...

That was probably the case but it was the best I could get for under $20.00. It was a lot better than the onboard Intel graphics (64 MB's) that the card replaced, I can assure you! ;)
