Please in menu Addons add new types: Challenges and Grand Prix. I see new challenge in the forum: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2735 and Grand Prix: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2671

they might get added. the first one is in development and might not get used, and the second one uses add-ons which are constantly changing and aren't part of the real game so really doesn't quite fit in the real game. You can install them yourself if you really want though. hope this helped,

In general, there seems to be very little demand for downloading challenges and Grand Prix files from within the game, so supporting those at the moment in the addons structure doesn't seem to be worth the effort at the moment. But I am sure patches to add such functionality are welcome. ;)
Hey pal, I took an oath for justice! "In happy days or tightest tights..." or something like that.

That's not true, I'd like to be able to download more Grand Prix, I'm tired of doing the same ones over and over…

Me, too. There is a demand for more, new grand prix. And the only rigth way to do this is via the addon manager and the addons site.

There will be the problem of addon tracks being in grand prix but there are many ways to get along with this problem:
a) send a warning message, if a concerning addon track can't be found.
b) display a warning message and allow the user to get the missing tracks in a one-click procedure.
c) automatically download all tracks that are included in a grandprix which are not installed yet.

So far I can't remember a track disappearing from the addons site, so this shouldn't be a big issue.

Well, there is always demand from some people for something ;) Since it's reasonable easy to create your own GPs, if you need it, that will all be very low priority.

And the only rigth way to do this is via the addon manager and the addons site.

I might strongly disagree with that. Everybody will have different opinion in what a good selection of track for a GP is. We will probably end up with 100's of GPs, which really helps no one (unless we actively filter the GPs, then we have the discussion: "Why is GP X accepted, but my GP Y is not?"). The proper solution (imho) would be to allow people to design their own GPs. It shouldn't be too hard for someone to implement a GUI for that, but I admit for me (and I guess auria) that's pretty low priority.

Challenges can already be included with any additional kart/track from the addon web page, so no need to for additional categories. We could try to include grand prix data in addon tracks as well, this way each designer could define one GP to which his track would belong. Handling missing tracks need to be handled appropriately - again, low priority for now.

Note that I can imagine that we might support 'packages' in the addons: a package would be a selection of tracks, with new musics, GPs and challenges (though that might not work well with the new overworld :( ). I think that would be the more mature option for this. Tracks would first be published individually, till someone packs several of them together.

Cheers,
Joerg
