Swarth {l Wrote}:thank you very much, i am sorry i am quite new to linux and never heard of a stdout, i'll try using one of your binaries though, you know at the start how the other cars move forward and backwards ever so slightly? the other karts do that but the countdown never comes, i only use my keyboard to play the game, it is a Microsoft keyboard if that means anything(doubt it does but just making sure)
Don't worry about being new to linux. What I meant is: open a terminal (that should be somewhere under utilities or so), and then type supertuxkart (I hope that this will find the game). Unfortunately I don't know much about Ubuntu, but someone else here will

thank you i'll try to download one of your binaries and if that doesnt work i'll research stdout and try to see if i get any on it, sorry for my lack of linux knowledge
Similar thing - unpack them (you can do this in a temporary, or home directory), open a terminal (see above), and start the game. Unfortunately we need an unreleased version of irrlicht, and linux distributions might decide to use an official released version, which could trigger a bug. With our static binaries we know that at least this is correct (there is a script called run_game.sh or so which you should use to start).
Does the game actually freeze (i.e. do the other karts stop 'vibrating')? Or can you still get out with the escape key?
Cheers,
