Any particular reason for choosing Python?

With the context of Godhead and LoS, I'd suggest Lua. I don't think it makes much practical difference (Python vs Lua for Scone) but learning Lua has more obvious for your situation.

Lua's pygame equivalent is LOVE: www.love2d.org
