Tree Decoration

Postby BlasterMaster » 17 Feb 2017, 06:09

While playing counter current, I realized that there's no trunk tunnel tile or rotted hole tile either. So here you go. Now tux can jump inside a tree. Also, now you can have stumps.

What can I say, except you're welcome.

The tiles will be uploaded shortly. In the meantime, don't use the preview as the tiles! That would look a little odd.

@BlasterMaster: would you like to make the tiles for deeper areas of the new lava tiles?
If you don't know, which lava tiles I'm talking about: https://github.com/SuperTux/supertux/bl ... lava-1.png

You can also check out our TODO list, where you can find several things, we need graphics for: https://github.com/SuperTux/supertux/wiki/TODO

It might be a lot of work, but I can try. Though I just made these because I saw someone had tried using different tiles to achieve the look of a tunnel it the trunk of a tree. If you don't know what I mean, check out the level "Counter-current" and you'll see what I mean. You don't have to use them, but I think it would bring some variation to the forest.

If you have time, could you make a set of stump tiles for the biggest tree? https://github.com/SuperTux/supertux/blob/master/data/images/tiles/forest/foresttiles-8.png There's a few levels like Village in the Forest and Countercurrent that use big tree stumps, and it would be nice to have these tiles for them.

Ok, thanks. I tried some of your tiles out in-game already and they look really great. Great job!

Please redraw a new version of the big trees. These do look quite ugly and pixelated.

I haven't done any on the large tree's. And, do you mean they are ugly and pixelated when stretched to fit the large tree's, or ugly and pixelated the way they are now normally? Also, I was planning on making new tiles for the large tree's.

The trees themselves as they are in the game look quite ugly and there's not enough variation you could do to them (e.g. you only have these straight branches).

Ooooh. I thought you meant my tree decorations were ugly and pixelated. What you said makes more sense now. Thank you for clarifying. Also, yes the large trees are ugly.

Hey, it's me from the future. Don't worry Blastermaster of 2017, I made new trees that aren't pixelated.
