Possible assets for LOS

Possible assets for LOS

Somebody has gotten the Ryzom assets converted from 3DS Max - to .iqe files, which I assume is something related to IQM.

yes and it works great!

You should definitely look into using those as the animation library for LoS.

Importer for Blender here: https://github.com/ccxvii/asstools

Yeah, I have been waiting for the models to be converted to a usable format, and the Blender importer seems to work fine indeed. This is excellent news.

The static models should be pretty easy to get added to LoS, and their art style isn't that far off either. Animations and character models probably won't be of much use due to character style and rigging issues, but there's plenty of stuff even without them. I'll see if I can lift at least some vegetation and items a bit later.

(Coming up with the name for the asstools probably involved the same kind of brilliance and thorough consideration as naming LoS did. :p )

Talking of naming... why does all the Ryzom stuff have to be in French :( (rhetorical question, don't answer).

Weapons should be pretty usable too I imagine, and what about all the enemy monsters?

I'm not sure about monsters since I don't know what they have exactly (never played the game, still cloning the assets.) I don't think that there'd be any major technical obstacles for using them, though. It's more of a question about whether they'll make enough sense style and gameplay-wise and whether I'll be inspired enough to integrate them properly.

Not bad. It could be used for the summoning spell that lacks usable monster graphics (and is disabled because of that). It's a good candidate for inclusion for the next release.

There was also recently a quite nice goblin with a huge bone axe posted on Blendswap. Would fit right into LoS I think.
Blendswap has issues right now though, so I can't link (and the previous post was lost in the "incident").
