lossy copy of geometry?

lossy copy of geometry?

Postby bonifarz » 29 Sep 2012, 10:43

I have come across something that may be either intended behavior or a glitch in the editor.

In the attached map, if you copy the circular slab using a gridsize smaller than its thickness, the pasted/moved geometry will have less detail. The result is illustrated in the png image. However, copy/move on larger grid sizes is lossless.

Thanks for your feedback!

There's a minimum gridsize, so anything smaller gets "rounded up". So no, it's not a glitch. And it's really unlikely that you'll ever need to use anything smaller than the smallest gridsize, ever.

Right, my description of the issue was not clear. I do not imply any scaling down of the geometry to a smaller grid size. What i mean is merely the grid size for the selection, the size of the object is preserved. So this must be something else.
