New plasma model in progress

I thought it would be a good idea to show pictures of this model as it progresses!

Looking very sci-fi which is good for RE. Great that we have someons who steps up and helps with the models! Maybe you can finish the shotgun that LuckyStrike started once too?

Just a suggestion which could help you: maybe some sketches would give the community an idea of what you have in mind. They could provide valuable feedback BEFORE you start the hard work on all the small details for the model. It might save you some time if you would need to edit anything later on...

it may also help a lot to look at the shotgun concept topic by Luckystrike-RX. There's a lot of info on how he was creating the model, along with some very nice sketches.

What happened to that guy anyway? His models are awesome.

Lucky is still around, however like Mulex you will see him ingame and out of it rarely.

If you are still willing to take suggestions I have taken design classes, and I could draw up a sketch or two ^^

To give people an idea of what's going on I am posting photo's of the two most recent versions of the model("The current version and the backup version")
I would post sketches, its just that I am enjoying improvising, it has been fun not knowing how it will turn out :)

I don't actually have any sketches to show you, I would need to draw them up for that to happen, but as I said before I am enjoying improvising.
On another note sorry there hasn't been any updates in a while, I am working on that! :)

Tbh I think the UZI-like magazine doesn't fit the sci-fi look too much. It reminds me of the SMG now. Try a magazine that pops open where you can place a charge in when it's empty. It could be placed at the opposing side of the tubes or maybe at the top of the gun, similar to how it is with the current plasma model?

I went through a lot of different styles of magazine and this one seems to fit best because it does not interfere with other parts of the gun such as the sight and pipes, I'm not really sure what you mean about the smg because that gun's magazine is in its handle, also this magazine will look like it contains energy rather than bullets.

Still though I do see your point, thanks for the feedback!

Nice, that somebody works on a new model. I like the basic form of the gun, also the round button and the cables. My personal additions: I agree with Ulukai, the futuristc look could be underlined a bit more, by a "new type of a battery" or something of that kind. The whole gun could be more fat also, but thats just me. More important is to fit the overall style of RE (playermodel, other weaponmodels).

I'm not saying it looks bad, I'm just having the impression that you're mixing 2 styles here. The magazine reminds me more of an automated machinegun in it's current state but it might look better when all details are done and the gun is textured... If you want the magazine there in that place, you could try to make a reversed T-shape instead of having it just pointing down, just a crazy idea... ;)

Yeah, I think it would be better if it was closer to the original look and feel of the original that we use now. I'm a little confused, however - which way is it supposed to face? Maybe in the next screenie you could include hudhands to show us what it'll look like ingame.

Well, here is a picture of the model as it is in the "third update" amongst the other red eclipse weapon models...
I'm not sure if uploading this picture was a good idea or not, so please let me know :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't your sight blocked by the head of the gun?

I thought it was a tactical rail, lol.

Edit: We're talking about this part, right?

Also the magazine shape makes me think of a 9volt battery, since I'm trying to imagine what it would look like after texturing...

found this the other day, it's for another game, but I still like the artwork a lot and could be of some use.

I have actually played that game before, and yes the weapons are very nice...actually I'm a little stuck right now, because anything I have tried to add lately hasn't been turning out quite right, so I was wondering, with some necessary fixes and tweaks, do you think this model would be ready for texturing?

Can't think of any details to add that you would like? MOAR BUTTONZZZZ!!!!!11

JKing of course. The only detail I'd add would be a cooling vent behind the pipes, or on the opposite side of the pipes,
(is the weapon symmetrical or not? the pictures only show one side) but that could be done entirely through texturing, rather than modeling.
I lost the game.

Hi
Does it matter that you can't see the gun well from the front?

Would you care to explain this?
Anyway one thing is clear, I should be focusing on getting the model right before worrying about texturing it...
