To promote your game the ability to produce promotional items online is a real boon. Services like http://zazzle.com let you produce clothes, mouse mats, bags etc, covered in your logo, screenshots or whatever. No longer do you have to get 1000 T-shirts printed, pay, tansport them or distribute them. Just put a design on zazzle and point the punters to it. They buy, you get some money and no hassle. We have had cards printed at zazzle and they were very good. I want to try the t-shirts, so I thought we could do a test with a red eclipse design. if someone has a good one, send it to us and we will put it up and have one printed. In the long term Quin needs to have his own account, but we can start with a test on mine.
The second area of tek for producing promotional items is 3D printing. This is already amazing, I have a friend who is trying to print organs and another using it for jewelry. For Jewelry the best service in terms of materials is http://i.materialise.com For organs, not sure yet. We haven't tried them but will soon and report back. Not only 'traditional' plastic type printing (aromide, resins) but also ceramics and metals including titanium. How cool would be little titanium meka figurines? I mention figurines first because the first idea which came to mind was printing out those very expensive table top game figures that my son uses. The more I think about, the more I realise 3D printing is going to completely and utterly destroy traditonal manufacturing. Both small and large volume. And it's only going to get better and cheaper.
One last bit of tek, Google Glass, I mentioned this a while ago to Quin when they were offering headsets to people with a good idea for it's use. In it;s current stage of development it looks like its more Apple Newton than iPhone, here are some early reviews, http://www.retrevo.com/content/blog/2013/05/whats-wrong-google-glassSome form of head set will come to pass, but it may be a little while. Notice this wearbale tek is considered too intrusive to be allowed in a bar.
