You may have noticed with the 1.4 release a "user account" tab in the profile menu, this is part of the the first phase of being able to recognise people when playing online. Those with user accounts so far have been global moderators, and I have just begun handing out the first supporter accounts (given to those who contribute to the game, or donate). For the foreseeable future, user accounts will be invite only, that means only those who already have an account are able to recommend others for being granted an account; this seems the sanest way to keep the system clean and deploy it while it is still in its infancy.
If you are friends with a supporter, or global moderator, operator, administrator, developer, or creator; please ask them to recommend you for a user account. If you already have an account (equal to or more than supporter level), consider recommending your friends for one. If you don't have an account, or know anyone with an account, don't worry. Participate in the community & get recognised as a valuable member of it, donate via paypal, or contribute to the game; you will be rewarded with your very own supporter key allowing you to recommend others too.
If you are a server administrator with an existing account, you should also recommend your sysops for accounts, as this will give you even finer control over what access each person gets to your server. To add existing user accounts (including your own, allowing you to gain access without constantly entering a password), to your local server user lists, in "servinit.cfg" add:
- {l Code}: {l Select All Code}
addlocalop <handle> <m|o|a>
Where "m" is moderator, "o" is operator, and "a" is administrator. Easy peasy.
