Memory leak in git build

I'm on Slackware 14.1 64-bit and using Ogre 1.9. To bypass the OgreOverlayManager.h not found error, I had to compile from the development build 1.8.1 in git.
On loading the game, I see the memory climb at a rate of about 1GB per minute until it maxes out the memory and the system becomes unresponsive. Running the game from the command line doesn't populate any errors to stdout.
Is this a known issue and I just need to be patient for a more stable build?
