Memory leak in git build

I'm on Slackware 14.1 64-bit and using Ogre 1.9. To bypass the OgreOverlayManager.h not found error, I had to compile from the development build 1.8.1 in git.

On loading the game, I see the memory climb at a rate of about 1GB per minute until it maxes out the memory and the system becomes unresponsive. Running the game from the command line doesn't populate any errors to stdout.

Is this a known issue and I just need to be patient for a more stable build?

To test whether this was unique to the git build, I downgraded Ogre to 1.8.1, and installed LoS 1.8.0. It consumes memory until it seems to reach an upper threshold and then the framerate drops to 1-2 frames per second. After this, the game is unplayable due to the low frame rate.

I'm also seeing odd grass graphics in both versions where the grass is a series of angular lines rather than blades of grass. I'm running Nvidia driver 352.63 on a GTX 560 video card, in case that matters.
