The planets are back in their right orbit!

The planets are back in their right orbit!

Hi there,

Thanks to ghoulsblade's help we finally got the FreeGameDev planets (Games and Development) updated!

I removed a lot of obsolete and broken feeds, and started added some currently active ones, especially for open source games engines and some cool new free games.

The other good news is that we can now all help maintain the list of feeds the two planets rely on, as I put them in a GitHub repository: https://github.com/FreeGameDev/planet-config
(I created the FreeGameDev organisation for the occasion, we might find it other uses within the community as time goes).

So if you know other cool projects which get updates every now and then, don't hesitate to fork the repo and make a pull request.
Currently new commits still need to be pulled manually on the server side to update the planet, but ghoulsblade might automatise it at some point (especially when he gets annoyed by my asking him to sync with git constantly :p).

Note: Right now there seems to be an issue with feeds that operate over https, ghoulsblade and I will look into it.

Enjoy!

How often does the planet update?

I have an update from 11th November from http://cxong.github.io/cdogs-sdl/feed.xml that still isn't appearing in http://planet.freegamedev.net/. I tested locally with planet and it works.

Normally every 2 hours, but it looks like it stalled:

All times are UTC.

I'll ask ghoulsblade so that he has a look at it.

ghoulsblade noticed that two feeds were producing error output in the logs (which are publicly accessible btw: http://planet.freegamedev.net/output.txt), so we commented them out for now until further investigated: https://github.com/FreeGameDev/planet-c ... 2c7d575843
