Subsea Models

Subsea Models

Postby ctdabomb » 11 Sep 2014, 02:34

Hello everyone
I apologize for being away for awhile. I am back now though, and as some practice to get back into things, I decided to make some of the models from the needed objects list.
Here are some sea shells I made for subsea:
Screenshot.png

This screenshot is taken directly from the blender viewport. I have not tested them yet ingame. All three models together have 1442 tris, so they are a bit medium polied. They only have textures right now with plain colors, so they can easily be improved.
If you want other screenshots let me know, or just open up blender.
Released under cc-by.

How can I improve these and what model should I do next?

Some people are like slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't help smiling when you shove them down the stairs.

Nice models, and welcome back - it's always nice to see people return when they get time/motivation to do so. :)
I imagine they would look better with normal mapping, and possibly with a texture with some grain to it, like a little sand or so. But depending on where they are put, such details may very well be unnoticeable, so normal mapping is the one thing I'd recommend.

Good work so far, and I hope to see more stuff from you later. :)
Hey pal, I took an oath for justice! "In happy days or tightest tights..." or something like that.

The modeling looks pretty good, but the textures seem a bit flat and plastic-y. The new graphical style for Supertuxkart is one with handpainted, realistic, and detailed textures.

Hello

@ctdabomb :) congratulation, I'm including your objects in the upcoming version of supertuxkart (in the next gen version)
It's not yet in the subsea, but for the new Gran Paradiso Island.
