Guide on how to build STK

Postby shantanusingh » 06 Sep 2014, 16:57

Hello everyone,
I want to compile supertuxkart for that I am referring to this page https://github.com/supertuxkart/stk-code but the 2nd point is not very clear to me , it says download and install a source package for git/svn but what is a 'source package' is it the game itself or some other files . I've already downloaded the game and the git files but I am not sure whether I need to download svn files also . Please clear my doubt .

There are more detailed instructions on our wiki:
http://supertuxkart.sourceforge.net/How ... ws_version
http://supertuxkart.sourceforge.net/Build_STK_on_Linux

Both are a little bit out of date, as a new dependency has been added recently.

I've some doubts please see to it -
1. What is a released package ? I've downloaded the game . It was 205 MB file download form here http://sourceforge.net/projects/supertu ... p_redirect is it the same released package or is it something else .
2. I've downloaded cmake but there is no cmake-gui file . So, where is this file/option ?

Sorry, I don't understand question #1. The official build is the one linked from our website.

As for point 2, sorry I don't know what to say, I installed CMake and it did come with cmake-gui
